We haven't seen one of our cats since friday morning, put some flyers up today and have had 2 callers. One person has found a matching collar on a local road and another person has the body of a cat that was run over on the same road.
It's pretty certain that it's our missing Mog. Have to pick her up and take her to the vets tomorrow to be sure, can't say I'm looking forward to that.
She was only a year old and a real sweetheart, I'm gutted.

On the flip side I'm told we now have a mouse running around the house thanks to her sister.

RIP little Mog

I'm very sorry to hear that very sad news indeed, RIP Mog, unfortunately and although you wouldn't want to get that news it does sound too much to be a coincidence frown

Eta a reason I commented was we lost a 1 year old fun filled boy on the road, a couple in an Mx5 (of all cars for this forum) hit him and kindly found us through the local shop. After a little thought I'll add that when you see your cat tomorrow it might look different (not injuries, but fur shape) as when we picked our boy up this was the case, don't be surprised that's all - we didn't know this would be the case, sorry to have to post this. You should just be ready if this is the case - my mother found it difficult to accept despite being the same colour/eyes/size and our boy Billy not coming back after days, he just didn't look the same without the life in him.

Thanks all. Have the collar now and it is hers.
Ao -The guy that found her has her boxed her up, so I'll let the vet do the ID business with the microchip. Don't fancy seeing her myself. Thanks for the warning though, I appreciate it.

What a nice person. Glad someone like him found her. So sorry that your loss has been confirmed, I honestly would be beside myself.

Doubt anyone can understand unless they've lost a friend, very sorry for you. My favourite car loving cat seems to have a charmed life for now, but worries me every time when he's not where I expect him to be. Sorry for your loss.

It is really decent of him, he'll be getting a couple of bottles of something nice this weekend.
It's the 3rd time we've lost a cat in just over 2 years, the first two were through old age. The first was the hardest as she was my shadow and was attached to me whenever I was home. I held her when she was put to sleep and it broke my heart. This time is not much easier, the thought of her suffering is horrible frown

I'm sorry, I hope it isn't Mog, but fear that it is frown

What a thoroughly decent chap that found her, and the person that found the collar! So few people would actually bother frown

Just back from th vets, it was herfrown
But I knew it would be really. At least the flyers worked and thanks to a couple of decent people we know what happened to her.
No hard feelings towards the driver - these thngs happen.
Thanks for the sympathy.

At least you have some closure (hate that phrase, but can't think of an alternative). You have to let cats roam, and it is a risk that all cat owners have to accept that they may stray onto a road. It would be unfair to keep a cat locked up.

Again, you have my sympathies.

Sorry to hear that. We've lost two cats and only have one left. First one had a problem with her kidneys, second just old age. But it was worse with the second as I was there when she went, not nice to see an animal fighting with death frown

Sorry to hear of your loss of Mog, but as has been said, you do have "closure", and can bury Mog where you can remember them.

Our own Black Cat left nearly five weeks ago now, and I miss him dearly, we think he went away to die, he was old and infirm.
