No, but theres a ton of use for other points.AF tracking across the frame, focusing without recomposing (with fast lenses), proper framing of sports shots etc with the subject not in the centre.
Its easy to move and select other focus points, center point only is a bit luddite!

It can shoot a new very high bitrate compression mode, no 2k though which is wierd.
As pointed out on one or two sites it seems a bit odd for the flagship 1D to have a lesser pixel count than a 5D2 and the 1DsIII.
Unless there is something else just around the corner ... or they feel they can't compete successfully and profitably with the MF backs and the latest Sony offerings and have identified a different area of market segmentation for a profitable revenue stream.
Unless, of course, their 18Mp sensor with Digic 5 is very special.

$6800 so about £4318.
Very impressive camera in my opinion. Two very good ideas are the dual CF slots and the gigabit LAN. Very handy for transferring lots of information over without having to wait 15-20 minutes for a card reader to do it. Although not critical for me I can see why a professional photographer would love it as it speeds up the work flow process.

Well yes, ish. And I can see why they would go for 2 CF rather than 1 CF and 1 SD. Very impressive camera in my opinion. Two very good ideas are the dual CF slots and the gigabit LAN. However unless you are having to work in near real time for deadlines of one sort or another or you are working tethered to a network with someone else making the decisions about which files to use as they are shot, the effective download speed of a cardfull of images will be dictated by the card read speed. Currently CF is faster than SD and a new generation of CF technology promises even higher capacities and greater speeds. Without this the latest camera specs would have little purpose.
In batch transfer mode I would imagine there is the trade off between letting a suitable card reader handle the transfer whilst you carry on using the camera if you need to vs. tying up the camera (or at least part of its processing and battery capacity, transferring files - wire-tethered or WiFi with the WFT adaptor. CF card read speeds will be the primary driver either way - unless the network interface software is poor!
So lets see, if shooting the high quality uncompressed video you might want about 4 of the latest, fastest top spec CF cards - probably around £1000 a pop at the moment. So £4k for the camera and £4k for the cards? Better get some spare batteries too. And it seems these are a new version of the existing ones which poses some questions about compatibility, maybe.
Still, one way or another it looks quite promising. I'll be looking forward to the reviews.
