Why do you feel like vomiting if you train hard really hard?

The quick answer -

Throwing up following exercise can happen to anyone, no matter your age, sex or physical shape. It can be due to a variety of environmental factors and poor choices.

Exercise-induced vomiting can occur if you work out first thing in the morning before eating breakfast. Nausea and vomiting can develop when your blood sugar levels drop too low during and following exercise. You can also experience vomiting if you are dehydrated, which decreases the blood flow from the intestines; however, drinking too much water, such as two large water bottles before exercise, also can trigger vomiting. Vomiting also can develop if you are sick, overexert yourself, experience anxiety or are prone to motion sickness during exercise.

hehe

Thanks, Firefoot. I think I over-exerted myself as it was close to the final pull up that I had to sit down and stay still.

But why does over-exerting myself lead to the sickly feeling.

Leg day with weighted squats often leave me feeling dizzy - it's fine up until 1.5x body weight but after that it's hard going and tend to feel nauseaus and pretty exhausted after doing them... Assumed that it was normal and a sign of hard training.

Olympic and dead lifts sometimes cause me distorted vision, nausea, shakiness etc... Happens more intensely as the weights go up, so assumed it was just my body's reaction to the stress/exertion I am causing it.

Tends to be a lot worse when I haven't eaten prior to lifting and/or I'm run down/tired etc... But always assumed it was sort of normal to experience said symptoms when training hard!

I often feel/get sick after heavy training although in my case it is most likely down to my recently bad health. I only really suffer this on leg days.

I have seen others suffer this too though from heavy training.

Not brilliant buddy, cortisone injections and physio seems to be making it a little better but its still giving me trouble.

It will get there in the end I guess. It's more of a pain than anything else since it gets in the way of most training.

I'm about to put up my bulking plan in the competition section and will do as well as I can although this will obviously reduce the results.

That's annoying. frown

Have you got a rollerblade wrist guard? Remove the plastic if it's too restrictive and tighten the velcro - it can really help more than normal medical stuff. I fked up my left wrist ages ago (something popped inside) and couldn't hang off it when climbing. Wearing a wrist guard (without the plastic) meant I could continue to climb.

Thanks, I was wearing one but the physio told me to stop it since it will only weaken the problematic area over time.

Thanks

Yeah, I see the counter argument - it becomes reliant on the support so takes longer to heal. My wrist is fine now - I just wanted to climb sooner so needed something to take the pressure off. If you can rest it until it's 100% then that's the best solution. I would get to 80%, not use the wrist support and set myself back about 6 months.</daft bastid>

I'm for once trying to listen to my body with it. I tried lifting with it on but found it impossible so now I'm just lifting less and watching my strength disappear frown

Oh right. Was it too restrictive? As I say, I had to remove the plastic insert which gave me enough play but some positions were impossible at the time.

I know you are a fan of HIT but with your wrist are you going to go with less weight more volume?

GVT is quite fun and effective for a bulk, might lose some strength though.

It's funny you should say that because my coach has me doing something along those lines. I'm also only doing weights 3 times a week.

I'm going to try to bulk and if that doesn't work then just do my best to maintain and get ripped.
