Askiums+Open Pave=brain damage

I got a cheapo front wheel for my Fixie. It was a real pain getting cheapo non folding tyres onto them.
It came without rim tape. b
ks.
"I know" think I in a dull moment - "Duct tape will do".
No, no it won't. Following morning, as the heating comes on, the wheel goes "bang". That's a brand new inner tube gone too.
Got some Fond De jante off of ebay now.

If it's any consolation I found getting tyres onto my Mavic Aksiums to be a thoroughly frustrating experience too! Even with the tyre levers it was a sweaty, shouty affair..
I have used Aksiums for six years and only found one other type of tyre give me so much grief. They were Pro3's. Gatorskins and Gp4000s were no problem at all. I have only used Gp4000s on my RS80's. Out of interest (sad, I know) I may try to put the Pave's on them but they do need to go on the Aksium/Winter wheels.
