UEFA have banned Rooney for 3 games for his kick last week. That means he misses the group stage of the Euros next year.

So do you take him to use in the knock-out stages assuming we get past the group stage, but then drop somebody who helped get you past the group stage. Or do you not take him and hope that you can do without him if we do get past the group stage.

Andy Carroll should be able to fill his spot.

Right?

Amazing, try to distract from rooney's petulance by bringing another player into it.

You truly are brilliant.

For what its worth, you can never tell which Rooney is going to turn up anyway, so i really dont see the point in leaving us potentially one man down in the group stages for the sake of him maybe playing a blinder in the one game we will have, and lose after that.

Leave him at home.

Maybe the petulant little boy will learn something.

But I doubt it.

If it where not Rooney he might well have got away with it but those EUFA luvvies like to make examples of a player and the higher the profile the better. It was a petulant flick hardly a career ender.
So wonder now if Fabio will leave him out lets face it its hardly worht him going for just 1 game.

Quite. It's not like he doesn't have a track record........

80% of the games Rooney plays in for Utd he's playing in a massively dominant team who are very short odds to win......the combination of the extra pressure of playing for England in a team that is an awful lot less dominant doesn't seem to work well for Mr Rooney. Think Portugal and South Africa.

Leaving him at home would be the right decision but Capello doesn't seem very good at making them. Lets suppose England win the first three matches...do you disrupt a winning side? Nope.

As a Man Utd fan, I'd rather he was left at home. Keep him keen for the important stuff.

I agree, but you just know he won't learn from it. Paul Gascoine was on the radio today saying Rooney will captain England one day.

God help us.

shout Foreigners In Anti England Decision shock....

Quelle surprise ..... Not. We should have left the bds to rot in 1940. That anglophile Platini will be behind this.

Give Wayne the summer off, without him we won`t get out of the group.

As I pointed out on the England thread this has worked just fine for Wayne and Old Red Nose.

Capello will have to pick him for the squad due to sponsor pressures, unless he is so injured he's in a wheelchair. Because of this, Wayne will still get his image rights money and only play if England get to the 'important' part of the tournament. Then if England do win or do well, Wayne will still take a degree of the credit which will boost his 'value', where as if we get knocked in opening round his 'value' isn't depreciated because he won't have played so it won't be his fault.
This will also please Old Red Nose as it will mean his most important player only has to play in half or none of the tournament and isn't so knackered when he comes back in the autumn. It also means that England have less chance of making it to the next round which as a Scottish person will no doubt cause him to grin.

So win-win for United, Old Red Nose and Wayne.

But never fear, no player would ever dream of getting sent off on purpose.....

I said last Friday, and now, after the dust settled, I stand by my comment. Dont take him. We've now got 8 months to try some different options. Though I suspect Capello wont be able to resist taking him.

Anyone know if he/we can appeal?

We can appeal, but if he is found guilty again the ban will be more severe.

How can he even be proven innocent? It was a childish kick, no questions. No point in appealing.

It is a difficult decision but I would leave him at home.

Lets face it we will not win the Euro's with or without him so give some of the youngsters a chance.

I am sure the United fans would rather Shrek was left at home !!!!
