just seen some thing that makes my blood boil
Discussion
Just seen an ad on tv that has pi--ed me off . E,on offering 2 months free gas and electric . If you take my bill that means that new customers would get aprox £400 worth free . Sorry i don,t agree with that .
Does that mean we are paying to much to cover that .
I don,t think they should be able to do it .
Just feel the power companies are taking the pi--.
Any 1 feel the same .

I suspect they will have a limit on the amount they will give you. I worked in an area related to the industry, and they spend a substantial amount to acquire new customers, hence comparison sites, football sponsorships, tv ads and so on. If this annoys you, you should be angry they are spending money on all these things.
Same with anything. Banks do it too, give loyal customers s
t interest rates whilst giving new customers double. Solution, I move my money around every 12 months (although there's not much benefit to be had right now). Do the same with electric and gas and when they ask why you're moving, ask them why they think you're a mug. When I asked the same question of a certain bankING establishment the bloke said ah yes, I understand what you mean.

They rely on people not bothering to check, or being scared of switching. Ok banking is a pain, but car insurance, broadband, gas/electric is easy. I ring them and tell them I'm switching every year as all of them will have a retention policy for customers who do so!

That would mean you spend 200 quid a month on gas and electric?
Do you own a hotel?
Fair size house and a hairdresser for a wife .And a 23 year old step son who is an artist that heats up the shed with fan heaters in the winter and he puts the cookers on 3 or 4 times a day cause he can,t be arsed to wait for us all to have a hot meal together ,And opens the door in the middle of the winter to have a conversation with his mates for half an hour . Drives me up the wall. Yep winter bills always £600 ish without the the increases. And yes it dose feel like a hotel sometimes .But after 10 years of moaning ive finaly stopped that .Do you own a hotel?

Sounds about time someone got kicked out and told to go make their living from art. Pfft. Art's a hobby, not a vocation.

Cheap as anything - we're currently paying over 700 notes a month for water and elec. Gas is extra, but virtualy nothing.Do you own a hotel?
We're in dubai so air con running full on and a garden to water every day.
Medium sized 3 bed.

^^ central heating full blast, windows wide open.
In general though, 2 months free anything = inflated price for 10 months. Same goes for 12 months car insurance for the price of 10.
Not sure if it makes my blood boil TBH. Just the usual marketing BS.
Well we blow £100 a month on electric and gas and we change and shop around for lowest rates. That's really not heavy use at all. Infact it's hot water on once a day for two hours in the morning and then no heating on between April and nov. In general though, 2 months free anything = inflated price for 10 months. Same goes for 12 months car insurance for the price of 10.

I remember ten years ago monthly cost for both was a mere £25-30.
Remember that's also no usage during the day as we work. So £200pcm for a bigger place and more people seems fine or logical. Still not a nice cost but it's the world we live in

We pay about £65-70pcm for our gas and electric and that's a family of four, average combi boiler, 3 bed semi. We wash at least once a week

Our friends have an old 4 bed 1900's detached house in the sticks which runs on LPG and their bills are massive at £200. At £400 you'd have to have a pretty big house in my book (or like I joked leave the windows/doors open!)

I guess it depends where you live and how big your house is.

Drafty single glazed house where the curtains move with august of wind. Also if you have an open fire place with no fire going any draft it comes down the chimney. Also low loft insulation makes a big difference. We pay about £65-70pcm for our gas and electric and that's a family of four, average combi boiler, 3 bed semi. We wash at least once a week

If you have a gas tanker in you garden ie no mains gas they now charge you rent of £800 pa just for the tank (parents just hit by these new charges).
Woodburner is the way to go IMHO so much cheaper
