Hmm, that's quite a nasty way to do things.

Still, at least they are stepping in when the police don't. I wish we did the same (not necklacing mind).

If we carried out necklacing here there'd be countless threads asking about the suitability of winter tyres and when to buy them...

On a more serious note, it sounds a most horrific way to go.

It's been happening in Africa for years.

Justice in this country is - post London riots and with the high-profile killings of buglars in the Manchester area - begining to get the idea that the public will tollerate only so much before they have to police their own homes or communities. The government here has insufficient space to accommodate the growing numbers of criminals - many of whom we have imported of the Labour open-door decade (please check the stats for immigrant criminals before crying racism) - in our prison system, which is why judges are often pressured to give out Mickey Mouse sentences and also why unreasonably early release is the norm. In short, why prison is not a deterrent.

We see this happen elsewhere, but it could be here.

Necklacing is common-place in Africa. Couple of times the community near our office in Lagos caught a thief and necklaced them. One charred 'statuette' remained in place for weeks. Re-offending rates are low...

It would be tire-some in north America though.

Hasn't been a for South African criminals with all those vigilante killings.

Which in turn beats being ed to death. Somehow or other.

Isn't that what happened to Phil Eastenders?

I'm clutching at straws here.

Do we lose points for repetition?

How the might have

(If so. And if a good run of tyre related puns really makes one mighty. Even on PH.)

Are you suggesting we've run-flat?
