Coolant system gurgling after a run

After a good run, I can hear the coolant gurgling away...I suspect this is due to air somewhere in the system - or is it a TVR thing?

The temperature level is okay on the gauge, and the fan kicks in okay.

Mine used to do it until I put the pressure cap in the 'right' place..

Its probably the coolant making its way back to the swirl pot from the expansion tank as its supposed to as the engine cools. If you have your caps on the correct way of course... (fixed seal cap on the expansion tank, pressure cap on the swirl pot)

Probably, it's the coolant boiling in the heads as the exhaust valves cool down without any coolant or oil flow to disperse the heat.

Or, if you've waited long enough for the cooling system to get cold and lose pressure, and you have the caps on the Wrong Way Round (tm) so that the pressure cap is on the swirl tank, you're hearing air dribbling back past the return valve. That would only happen an hour or more later though, the cooling system has to be quite cold before the pressure goes negative.

OOO kev you nasty msn!!! Yep mine does it now the pressure cap is in the wrong place (i.e. swirl pot) rasther than on the expansion tank - never did it before though

Moral is - don't worry that is normal

I'm sure it's fine I may have had an incorrect cap as the swirl pot didn't seem to refil properly.

My expansion is on the header tank now and it's all good

Ah interesting reading, especially the bit around the small return valve, I was wondering how the water returned to the SP.
