all the comments seem to follw a theme though, closed roads that werent closed, poor signage, no marshals and a lack of food/drink at feed stations.

part of me thinks that if its advertised as a closed road event it should be but another part of me wonders if this is ever going to be possible.

i also think that there is a it of self preservation required, there are always moans in CW about feed stations beiong under equipped or empty when joe bloggs turns up but to be hoenst, you have to be self sufficient to some extent. there are always petrol stations to buy food and drink from on sportives/audaxes too.

it does seem that sportives are fast becoming a money making exercise and organisers promise the earth without hope of achieving. its worth sticking to the events where there is a local club involved not a faceless orgnaisation because a lack of signage, food, water at feed stations and disorganised marshals points to one thing only... "cycling is popular, lets cash in on this thing called a sportive....."

you cant compensate for signs being moved only by not putting them out until the early hours of the event day but the rest sounds pretty poor.

For £65, I'd be expecting Heston to have concocted special energy bars! For comparison, I've entered next years National 400km. It's £20, and if last years Seething 600km that they organised is anything to go by, I'll put on a couple of kilos because of all the food that's included.
