Got this today:
quote:
Greetings from Canada: I'm hoping you can help me with some information about the cars that Prince Charles owns or has owned in the past. Prince Charles will be visiting this part of Canada, Saskatchewan, in late April, and that's what's prompting this request. I do a weekly radio show about cars, and thought this would be of interest to our listeners. I have found that his first car was an MGC, and that he later owned a Rolls Royce, a Bently and an Aston Martin. Can you confirm or correct any of that information. If you're not able to help with this, might you be able to suggest someone who could?
Anyone know any more?

I'm deeply ashamed to admit I know this but..... .....he had a V8 Vantage. The huge front air dam and blanked-off grill probably didn't suit his image so they produced a special (one off) Vantage with a much more subtle aero kit (looked like the standard car). However it became so popular that they started selling the "Prince of Wales" spec. Vantage. Think it was in "Balmoral Green" - predictably Hasn't he got a DB6 which he was given(!) for his 18th Birthday? Jeez I really am starting to sound like a spanner Edited by MikeE on Tuesday 10th April 13:24

Hmmm, Bit hypocritical of the ol' tree hugger to have a collection of such environmentally unfriendly motors methinks. Jim

Definitely never had a Triumph. And I don't think the Princess had an official dealer service history.

No service history when he got it, but a few stamps in the book from later users.

Doesn't he now drive an old second hand cattle truck now? I'm sure he's been seen tooling around in it on a number of occasions?

Its one thing insulting TVR and their dealers as they deserve it. Prince Charles has two Aston Martins, a V8 Vantage, which was a wedding present and a DB6 convertable which was his 21st birthday present. He uses a Bentley which is leased for everyday use. Price Edward's first car was a Rover SD1 Vitesse, Princess Anne was a keen Reliant Scimitar. I don't remember any Royal owning a TVR.

Rubbish, I can't think of anyone more deserving of insult than one who drives (chauffeured) his Bentley half way across Europe to attend a conference on the environment - what a frikkin hypocrite.

He does not like working on his cars himself, and I know for a fact that he needed help to remove the gearbox from the princess.

My mate's Dad used to chauffeur around diplomats and VIPS... he had a Princess, wonder if its the same one? Sure his Princess was black though. He had to go on lots of courses to learn how to handle the Princess properly though...

Charles never learnt how to handle his Princess properly, it was an automatic - used to go off on its own now and again and although it wouldn't be fair to comment on later owners I believe a well known sportsman with oval balls was seen getting out of the back now and again.

Re: royals & TVRs- I have vague recollections of Edward driving a Chimaera on the TV series he did a few yrs ago. Might have been rented specially, though
