Apple aperture help

Afternoon people ! I think I am having a brain fade moment....how on earth do you make a back up disc ( cd or DVD ) of all your images in aperture ,should know how to do this but having a spectacular fail at the moment. Any help would be cool . Thanks..Steve w.

I have Aperture 3 which has the ability to back up your photographs in one or more vaults. My main vault is on my MAC hard drive and I have two separate Hard Disc Drives for further back up. At the bottom of the Inspector panel is the vault information and allows you to update the vaults whenever you want (not sure if you can schedule auto updates).

Thanks for that Norfolkaston ...so if I buy an external hard drive will the aperture vault recognise this automatically ?...I was hoping to back up external to the mac..so perhaps this is the way to go ! Btw what hard drive do you use ? Thanks. Steve.

Something like,

Select pics > File > Export (either versions or masters) > create new folder >
export (new folder on desktop)> put in disk > drag and drop over disc icon.

But don't quote me that!!

Edit, at work on a PC otherwise I'd give you a better discription..

Steve, on your Aperture front page, the vault buttons are in the bottom left hand corner. If you click on the one like a cog, you can select 'add a vault'. Once your external hard drive is connected, you simply select that vault and Aperture adds it to the list of devices it backs up to (in addition to your Aperture library memory).

I kept running out of space in my Aperture library, so I've transferred a number of my photos to my main back up device (a La Cie d2 quadra 2tb) and have copied all of those files onto a second back up device (a Western Digital My Book 2tb). I've also set Aperture to back up all the photographs in its library to the Mac hard drive and the two external hard drives as well. I bought both hard drives on line from the Apple store - about £180 each.

Thanks for that Phillip...will look into external hard drives..would hate the mac to go t.ts up and not be able to recover photo's. Steve.
