So, this is out very soon.. Anyone going to be buying it?

I liked the previous Ace Combat.. I hope they haven't changed the way it plays too much, as the engine it currently runs on feels good, the handling between each plane is noticable and you could get into some real good dog fights with other planes.

Strongly advise you play the demo (defintely on Live, presumably on PSN also).
My opinion, they've dumbed it down beyond belief (it was always popcorn movie dumb anyway, but in a good way), with cheesy on-rails dogfights and left/right helicopter gunship bks.
For me, they've killed it completely - definitely won't be giving them my money...

I'm just repairing my Xbox from RROD but noticed this was coming out.. Haven't played the demo yet, will get it downloaded.

I really hope they haven't properly killed it, used to be able to spend hours and hours playing the old one.

The cover graphic says it all for me. Seems to be no longer about the actual flying, but more concerned with the story behind the game.

I've had a go on the demo and won't be buying it. That said though, I have BF3 on pre-order so I doubt I'd find the time for both from the end of October. I struggle to get enough gaming time sometimes as it is!

And, the story line in the old game was terrible.. I don't want to watch cinematics, I want to play the game! hehe

I agree.. Forza 4, MW3, BF3, Ace Combat (Maybe!).

Precisely. I love the attention to detail on the planes and some of the landscapes, but that sodding overworked story did my head in with the previous titles!

I'm going to talk myself into ordering FM4 as well, but am holding out for BF3 at the end of the month because I know that I enjoy that type of game too much!
