Hi,
I'm a newbie and don't have a feck where l should post this but anyways:
Does uprating an intercooler have any tangible benefits in low (7-10psi) boost turbos.

i.e. greater cooling = greater charge density at same psi = more power...surely.
Yes? No? Not a lot?

I dont think that a bigger intercooler on a car the us as low on boost as the one you are talking about will make much difference.
Try putting a small temperature censor into the air flow and seeing what the air temp is, this mite give you an idea what to do.
Good luck

An uprated intercooler will stop the ECU going into safety mode and cutting engine power on hot trackdays or prolonged uphill drives. A larger intercooler always seems to be the reccommended first upgrade before anything else on modded turbo engine.

I'm interested in this as well. I have a 200Tdi Defender and it has been suggested that I fit a larger intercooler. I was down at Burtons last week and they said they could make virtually whatever size or shape I wanted for 250-350 squid. Any comments as to whether it's worth it?

Thanks in anticipation

How about uprating to one that doesn't suffer as great a pressure drop across it?
BTW what elements of an intercooler reduce this pressure loss?

So far it looks like its not worth it..
