Buying and importing cars from the US
Discussion
Hey, folks!
Has anyone here actually imported a car from the US without going over and organising shipping?
I'm looking to buy an F150 Lightning, and I have friends in the US who can check the vehicle out, but I need to organise shipping as cheap as possible to get the car over here.
Anyone help with any suggestions?
Thanks!

You can do it from this end thru Wallenius Wilhemsen.

They are the world's biggest car transporters and they charged me about £500 to ship my car from Baltimore to Liverpool on a RoRo Car Transporter. Car is driven to the docks in the US, driven onto the ship, driven off in the UK.
Decide which port you want to leave from and which one you want to arrive at. Get your US colleague to take the truck to the port in the US about a week prior to shipping, you having already booked the car on a particular route.
X days later your car arrives in the UK and you can arrange to pay the agents for WW here in the UK prior to arrival so you can collect the truck usually the day after it arrives.

Congrats on picking up the car. Is it as you expected and are you bringing it to Billing on the US plates? Any pics to show us??
Pretty much so apart from tints on the windows. Spent yesterday polishing it up. Very pleased with it, a lot more of a raw sports car than I was expecting. There's a 5 week wait for SVA and it hasn't got any American plates so I'm stuck on that one.

Kinda the reason I want to import the car myself is so that I can avoid lining the pockets of the american car companies. In my experience, most of them will charge top dollar for their cars but will turn their noses up at the same car when it comes to trading them in against something else...
