Hi guys,

I recently fitted a 'de-cat' pipe to replace the cat. All fitted, no problems and all sealed ok upon cpmpletion, the sensor thingy screwed back in to the de cat pipe with no issues. Apart from this minor modification, the car is 1oo% standard.

I opened her up yesterday and when she got to 115mph, it's as if there was a speed limiter fitted at 115mph (sat nav reading). I backed off and accelerated again and it kept happening. Any thoughts? It's a UK official Mitsy dealer supplied car.

Strange..........

No thoughts from anyone?!

I have spoken to the dealer and they reckon the ECU may need re-programming.

Ah well.

The "sensor thingy" is a lambda sensor to ensure that the cat, that you've just removed, is working properly. I'd be surprised if you can just remove the cat, screw it back in and have no problems.

However, the place to ask this is on the MLR (www.lancerregister.com), there's a lot of expertise on there.

You need to get it mapped and erase any fault codes on the ecu.

Turns out that the ECU has a 112mph speed limiter on it - nothing to do with the de cat at all.......

Wasn't removed by Mitsubishi UK when imported.....

All sorted at Ecutek, who are 2 mins from me - they map most of the Jap stuff for the manufacturers, so all done and dusted. It was the limiter that wasn't removed by Misubishi UK.

The sensor thing is likely a cat temperature sensor , which pops a warning light up and limp home mode on if the cat gets too hot , its needs to be very very very hot however for this to happen , so shouldnt effect anything when fitting a decat most people remove them and cable tie them up out of the way
