Just for a bit of fun, imagine you were going to undertake a long trip to remote parts in your S what spares would you carry in the boot, and why, assuming you had the tools to fit them. This may throw up a common failing component.

Mobile phone + credit card, seriously what ever parts you take sods law that you wont have the bit you need, having said that all I used to carry was:
1 fan belt
2 spare throttle cable
3 spare HT lead

That's it

If travelling across rural France on a Sunday you'll find it closed so best carry some spare fuel

I've found Hans Part Supply works very well. When you ring from Calais your parts are personally delivered the next day at the Nurburgring!

Correct I am in Bournemouth and hope to have and S of my own in the near future

On topic: would carry a Fuel pump relay,multimeter, soldering.
Most problems are about electrics
