Fuel Smell in Cabin

Hi All,
Went for the first, in a long time, a good run with the roof down. Noticed a strong smell of petrol whenever I stopped. At first I thought it was traffic fumes as it was quite busy but pulled up on the drive and there was a strong smell again.
Looked under the bonnet and no smell or sign of leak, nothing under the car and the filler cap is on tight. Is there some sort of vapour vent as the smell was knocking me sick or do they "all do that sir"?

I've had the odd whiff after filling up and put it down to fumes around the tank which sits just behind the passenger seat. If there's nothing under the bonnet it could be at the tank. If there is a persistent smell check the pipes in the boot (behind the metal cover)there's a filler and vent for perished rubber. Get underneath and see if there are leaks around the tank/pump. I've heard that the tanks can get pinholes from corrosion.

This. Get the metal panel off and check the clamps on the rubber hoses are on properly. I had an increasingly strong smell of petrol in my cabin and after checking the hoses in the boot, one was extremely loose which is how the fumes were getting out. Tighten it up and job's done.Good luck and no smoking

I am getting the odd intermittent smell of fuel in the cabin , in particular with top down .
A through inspection under the bonnet , I can see no leaks or even smell
Nothing around fuel filler . Haynes Manual ( don’t laugh !) suggested purge control valve on Evaporative emission control , there is no failure warning light on dash , would that be expected
