Hi all,
Been working with my mate on some HD panos and after some feedback please, got and bad :-)

just click the picture and hopefully you should be able to navigate around quite easily, do you think its intuitive enough?

I like that. Took me a minute to figure out that the roundalls were actually links but then again it had been a long day.
Out of interest - how many shots go into one of those ?
you would be surprised mate not that many, using a wide angle its only 6 shots per scene, the big work comes due to the HDR nature so every shot has 3 photos that make it upOut of interest - how many shots go into one of those ?

I thought it would be a lot more! How long did it take for editing the whole thing?
thats the bit that takes ages hence why i get my mate to do it :-) he is the guru when it comes to that you can set them up to batch run though and depending on how much info or interactivity you want it will take longer.Did you use a pano head mount to get the camera rotating properly?
Did you bracket the shots a stop or two apart at each position?
The results look great in any case... I want to try some HDR environment map captures but you really do need a good wide angle lens to reduce the capture count, mainly because the clouds get around the sky pretty quickly
I'm surprised cameras today can't just do a HDR exposure, say 1/10th of a second and capture 10stops to an appropriate format all in one pass.

the mount we use has a vernier so makes it easy to swivel to the correct angles for the 360. The bracketing is auto once set up at -2, 0, +2. I agree that newer cameras should include at least a 5 stop HDR mode, would make life a lot easier. And yes agree about the clouds lol, sometimes its all hunky dory then a cloud moves the sun pokes out and the settings are all to pot so back to frame 1Did you bracket the shots a stop or two apart at each position?

So is it a full frame camera capture, or cropped?
What lens was used?
I guess there is little to no cost in using a wider lens due to distortions? Does the software that stitches them do a good job, or is it more to do with making sure you have a good overlap between shots?
My main interest is in generating HDRi's this way for various CG purposes, rather than the probe method (good enough balls are damn expensive!)
