Unusual heater box with extra pipes? - help

hi - i have just received an s2 replacement heater box but it has extra flexible pipe connections...anyone have any clues as to what they should be doing? fresh air in? hot air out etc????

Not seen that before have they been added maybe to connect
to the vents to get hot air instead of cold, don't see why you
cant blank them off only need it on the screen anyway

cant help but think this is a prototype - fascinating implication for heater control.....

I don't know for sure, but....
On the S3's and V8S's there are hot air feeds out of the footwells (like S2's) and out of the side screen demister vents (cold fresh air only on S2's), i.e. there are more hot air outlets than on an S2. So it may be that the new heater is from an S3/V8S.

I'm sure that someone else will be along soon to clarify further.

ok - found norman farmers pics of the dash strip on an s3. look like my old s2 heater box. so now its a search for a v8s dashboard out pic

It's nothing like the one on my V8S. Mine had just the two outlets, one either side taking air to the footwell "eyeballs".

ooo looks like a prototype then. I am tempted to feed fresh air in below the matrix (there's another extra pipe on the opposite side to the fan), fit a divider so fresh air has to go up through the matrix and not escape out of the fan hole and then feed mixed hot cold air from one of the top outlets to just the driver dash vent. This may even reduce condension in the gauges!

ok, gave up on the modded box and went back to standard. dash now back in, just last bits and commissioing to do,
