Black Horse - Woburn Sands (-1)
Discussion
I'm no food expert. But then lots of people give opinions of music but can't read it or play an instrument...here's my take on this partic. restaurant.
"""Went for Steak Night Wednesday, either were under-staffed or over booked.
1) Ordered drinks, didn't come...
2) Ordered mains.
3) Drinks came 15mins after ordering - warm beer!!!
4) Still no main...despite 2 rare steaks and 1 sausage mash...order more drinks.
5) 45mins after ordering - Mains came over a 5minute period. 2 Steaks, 1 Sausage mash, 1 Greens, 1 Chips.
6) Second round of now unwanted drinks arrive - albeit, cold.
7) Knowing small portions, extra chips and greens ordered just about satisfy our hunger. Desert menu offered once we've finished our drinks...only 2 menu's supplied to 3 people.
8) No deserts ordered, bill comes in at over £84.
I think all 3 of us would have prefered a home-made chilli and a crate of beer! The staff clearly didn't want us non-conservative voting punters in their restaurant.
If you've got a BMW X5, dodge your taxes and willing to pay your step sons £44 for a Cote de Beouf each then continue to complain about free swimming/meals for less privilidged children then it's definately the place for you. You even get a complimentary copy of The Daily Telegraph...
P.s. Sausage and mash was 2 sausages, sloppy mash and sticky gravy...For £10.50!!! Not enough food to feed a child...a starving, homeless one at that."""
The steaks were cooked well though, but nothing compared to that little restaurant at the Nurburgring that serves it on the hot stone raw!!!
Sorry for all lovers of this popular venue. It just did not work out this evening!

Out of interest did you complain whilst you were there or just moan amongst yourselves and then pay up? If I received service (or lack of it) like that I'd certainly have said something and demanded money off the bill.
Also - anyone tried The Birch in Woburn? I use it's sister restaurant The Black Horse in Ireland a lot and was wandering if the Birch was as good?

I also had forgotten, that when they first gave us the bill it was for another table, which came in at around £59 so we were initially quite happy! Until we noticed mussells on there - definately wasn't us lol!
I didn't complain no, because the tables are all quite close in there and everyone else around us was having a good time. Typically British I guess, but didn't want to cause a fuss and maybe spoil other peoples evenings...just reluctantly paid and will not go back for food - plenty of other competition around this area.
