Hey guys I have a question for all of you, i hope some can clear this up.

Exactly what are the most common things to go wrong with a 348 and 355? And Generally, what would you say is the dollar amount per year spent on maintenance and other costs?

Thank you.

Had my 355 spider for 3 years now but its going next month cos the Murci's coming, but in any case the 355 has been a truly great car. Only unforseen problems i've had are very common to this model. 2 exhaust manifolds (which had burnt through).New rad fan, hood electrics need fettling occasionally, but generally its been superb.Has had belts done once(2K), countless rear tyres but only one set of fronts, clutch, handbrake cables etc.Its done 33000miles in my ownership and i've loved every minute. It must be one of the less expensive ferrari's to run compared to a V12. I would defo go for a 355 even in LHD over a 348 although it has its admirers too.

havent had anything go wrong with my 348 so cant comment. All I would say is when I looked at a few,a badly cared for ferrari sticks out a million miles.I saw some absolute pieces of cr@p.Not being a mechanic,I simply waited till I found one that looked as though it had been cherished - then got it inspected. On the basis of the report,250 quid,I bought the car and had a major service done with cambelts immediately.I can drive it with piece of mind so its worth it.I think it was about 2000 quid including brakes. It will only need about 800 quid spending on it for the next 2 annual services so if nothing goes wrong (which it shouldnt on the evidence so far) I'll have had relatively cheap motoring. From other people I've spoke to,the majority of people give the cars good reliabilty ratings if they've been maintained correctly. If the car has skipped periods in the service schedule - then you may be taking a chance.

I would speak to Karl at Verdi (independent ferrari specialist) for advice and inspection/servicing. You can also get a warranty off ferrari through a main dealer if the car passes the authorised dealer's inspection. If you can live with LHD the cars were generally better im told as that is how they were designed. And cheaper. Mine is LHD and yes its a bit of a pain sometimes but still such fun
