Rear MTB wheels, spline on disc

So it looks like it's time for a new rear wheel, my current one's cups and cones are pitted badly and the rim has seen a fair amount of punishment, and would benefit from being replaced.

At the moment I'm running XT hub, 9 spd laced to a Mavic X819 disc rim, and I'm running last seasons XTR brakes, so I think I'm limited to spline on. Anyone got any other options rather than a Shimano based set up.

I could replace with what I have, there's nothing wrong with XT hubs, I just like the idea of running cartridge bearings, and fancy a bit of the hope style free hub noise.
Anyone got any idea for choices other than the big 'S', ideally it would be all black in colour to match what I currently have, black spokes included.

If it helps it's going on a hard tail thats used for trail riding, and I can be hard on my kit, hence I ruled out XTR type light race wheels.

IIRC no-one else made centre-lock disc hubs: it's a Shimano thing. Change the discs and give yourself a lot more (i.e. everything else!) choice. Best bet is probably Hope, assuming you can put up with the noise.

I'm sure you can get conversion parts, but they may just be 6 bolt to Spline, rather than the other way...

Still, if you fancy a change, a new rotor isn't a huge expense.

I've just got a new set of Fulcrum Red Zone wheels, they're really, really nice.

Hope pro3 hubs with DT swiss spokes on a 819 wheel. A very sturdy UST tubeless set up. You will then have the option of running the new hope cassetts when the hit the market. Then hope brakes on a floating rotor - superb!
