Current 991 spec - any suggestions?

The most popular colour so far this year on Porsches is................Black.
Be original !
Fair point. It is a little boring. Be original !
I suppose it's about striking the balance between being original and what's popular - and the consequences re resale value.
That PDCC ain't cheap - might remove the option just before I lock it in (unless the reviews consider it a must-have).

I've heard the car which did the ring in 7:37 had PDCC supposedly it improves handling. Be good to hear more about exactly what it is and what it does. I suppose it's about striking the balance between being original and what's popular - and the consequences re resale value.

All IMO of course:
If you want black, go for metallic
No need for sports suspension - sports mode dampers on normal PASM are great anyway, and give the car a dual character
PDCC looks intriguing, I'd spec it but don't have any experience with it as it's new on the 991
Coloured belts and seat backs are just throwing money away
Go for as much interior leather as you can. Center console and storage box really help to upgrade the interior (at least on the 997)
Whatever you go for, it's going to be a great car. Saw one in the flesh a little while ago, was a lovely upgrade from the 997. New sunroof design is excellent BTW.

The 991 brochure PDF on the website has more info. Looks like self levelling adaptive suspension, and worth the outlay.

Leather interior package EEA
Leather centre console trim XHB
XHB is leather for the silver bits around the center console switches .. personally, would leave the silver bits in place as it provides some contrast.
are you leaving the center dial silver or making it black to blend in with the rest?
have you found out whether you can get the sunvisors in leather? how about steering column casing in leather?
what about 5mm wheel spacers?

EEA turns all the silver trim on the dash and the doors into leather .. interior will be very black .. perhaps leave the silver in place?

Yeah, its going to be fairly dark in there if im not careful - the red belts were meant to help give some contrast, but i' goingto have to spend some time with the OPC to run through the interior. Ridiculous to think that a car of this value has such limited leather and no floor mats.XHB is leather for the silver bits around the center console switches .. personally, would leave the silver bits in place as it provides some contrast.

Spacers seem to be overkill (or more overkill) on first thought - worth it?

Phew. I must work harder.
As a matter of interest, how do you resolve in your mind, the spending of near 6 figures on something that you (or nobody else) has yet driven or tested?
You are assuming it will be fabulous and right for you?
MTR
Deposit goes down and i then have until mid-December to work out whether I like it (test drive) and the reviewers like it more than the GTS - a benchmark in my mind. Then the deposit becomes non-refundable.

I'm aiming for March delivery.

Fair enough, that sounds reasonable! I guess my question should be put to those taking delivery of the first cars.I'm aiming for March delivery.

Sunroof - nice, but you'll probably only use it 4 or 5 times then forget about it.
Rear Wiper - Yes, I was glad my old C2S had one.
Top tint - They aren't charging for that are they, thought it was standard on the S. The tight .....
Park assist - a must have, for both parking and resale.
Sports exhaust - never had it, but sounds good.
Sport Chrono Plus - unless you spend most of your time gunning it round a circuit and are friendly with your local tyre stockist, just stick with the Sport Chrono Pack which will give you much improved throttle response over the rather lethargic 'normal' mode
PASM - Yes
Sports suspension - Nope. The 991 sits low enough, plus all your fillings will need looking at well before your car's engine does.
PDK - Yes, nice to have in rush hour traffic, and on the open road (in Sport mode that is, with dampers reset to normal)
20 inch Carrera Classics - Yes indeed.
Sports Seats - Yes, much better support that standard seats. With backrests in exterior colour? - behave.
Guards Red seatbelts - Thunderbirds are go.
Floor mats - Yes, but isnt it time these were standard instead of Porsche putting us through the humiliation of having to 'order' them. What next - having to pay extra for a multi-function steering wheel, something that even the most basic of cars has these days? Oh, they've already thought of that one ...
Sport seats plus - nice.
Leather interior - worth it for the smell every time you get in it.
Sports design steering wheel - never understood this one, it robs you of the multi-function wheel and you'll just leave it in auto anyway once the novelty of the flappy paddles has worn off.
Bose surround - Ok, but I've heard better systems. Don't bother if going for a cab, its a very poor setup.
Prep for mobile - Its 2011, and your Porsche dealer wants an extra £445 from you for Bluetooth in a £79k+ car. Thats gotta be worth an extra sachet of Porsche sugar. And go on, nick the spoon - you'll feel much better.
Porsche VTS - Peace of mind but you've got to remember to take a fob with you every time you go out or they will charge you for repeat false alarms. And your insurers will hardly blink when you gleefully tick the 'Tracker?' box on their website.
PCM + nav - another must have, for the same reasons as the park assist. Porsche know this, and that's why you are now over £2k lighter than before you swallowed your first sip of official Porsche tea.
