Hi, I've been lurking round these forums for a while now, and have decided that it's time to post something! I've just got a new bike and am looking for an alarm for it. Since it doesn't have to be Thatcham approved, I was looking at the Meta M357T V2 and the Datatool System 3 and me and my electrician mate were going to fit it ourselves. The question is.......Has anyone got any experience of these alarms, good or bad that they could share ??
No experience of this product, but its Ride recommended and seems like a good idea to me - its called MST Bikeguard - you fit it yourself (so can move from bike to bike) and it basically detects movement - if your bike is moved, it sends you a text message. You can even control it from your mobile - activate the lights, horn, and it can even act as a tracker if you pay a subscription.
It costs £199 i believe.

first bike i have had with an alarm. it has a datatool system 3.
Im sure its very good but it fecking anoying
never stops fecking beeping.
put it in maintenance mode to oil the chain and it beeps every 15 secs just to let you know its not alarmed.
good idea i suppose but still fecking annoying

I have a datatool system 3 on my current bike and it's over engineered in my opinion. It's always bleeping for something or other and you need to have a photographic memory of the entire user manual to figure out why.
Another cracker is that I only discovered that I needed to know the location of the master alarm fuse when I tried to remove the battery to charge it up. The alarm went bonkers as it thought the power supply had been cut and the only way to switch it off is by removing the master fuse. When I called my dealer to ask where they put it, they said "no idea mate - we stick them in all sorts of unusual places". That's fine, but how about informing the owner!
I had a spyball patriot (I think) alarm on my last bike which was way better IMHO.
I'll not be buying a datatool system 3 again.
gixxer.
