Hi, Although I have been the proud owner of a '97 red Chimaera since November, this is my first time on this site. Unfortunately it is to ask for help. I returned to my car this afternoon. Pressed the remote, opened the door and the alarm started. I manaaged to drive the car home, but I cannot stop the alarm. It is giving out a constant tone. Worse still, I removed fuse number 6 (in the manual). This is supposed the alarm & Hazard lights fuse. I then shut the door. So now the alarm is continuing, the doors are locked and I can't get in and the hazard lights activate when I press the remote. I appreciate the 'don't discuss the break-in procedure' bit on this site. I thought I knew how to do it, but it looks as though I don't. Can anyone advise on what is wrong with my alarm, and would anyone be prepared to ring me re access. My Home number is 01784 482859, mobile 07768 474315. My popularity with the neighbours is diminishing fast and I don't know of any TVR speacialist who I might be able to contact before Monday.

Not sure which type of alarm you've got - but on my car (Meta system) you could try disconnecting the siren cable at the plug (a few inches from the unit accessed through the rad intake), it has it's own backup battery which would normally cause the siren to sound when the cable is disconnected, but I guess by now the battery might be getting low anyway. You could then remove the siren and dump it in a bucket of water! A new one would cost around £75.
Why it has gone off I'm not so sure, but it might just be a faulty siren as the imobiliser obviously can be defeated otherwise you couldn't drive it. Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks for the advice Paul. The alarm is a Meta and I shall see if I can do as you suggest in the morning,If the battery is still holding out by then. The trouble is of course, I can't get the bonnet open, because I can't get into the vehicle. It never rains, but it pours.

In the morning?! I'd rather break the window to sort it and get some sleep. Sure your poor neighbours would too. Alarms drive me crazy at night!!

You are absolutely right. I checked with the only people whom the alarm would disturb, and fortunately as I had put the car into the garage, they couldn't hear it. The alarm has now stopped, but I still can't access the car.
