Hi, Although I have been the proud owner of a '97 red Chimaera since November, this is my first time on this site. Unfortunately it is to ask for help. I returned to my car this afternoon. Pressed the remote, opened the door and the alarm started. I manaaged to drive the car home, but I cannot stop the alarm. It is giving out a constant tone. Worse still, I removed fuse number 6 (in the manual). This is supposed the alarm & Hazard lights fuse. I then shut the door. So now the alarm is continuing, the doors are locked and I can't get in and the hazard lights activate when I press the remote. I appreciate the 'don't discuss the break-in procedure' bit on this site. I thought I knew how to do it, but it looks as though I don't. Can anyone advise on what is wrong with my alarm, and would anyone be prepared to ring me re access. My Home number is 01784 482859, mobile 07768 474315. My popularity with the neighbours is diminishing fast and I don't know of any TVR speacialist who I might be able to contact before Monday.

Hi. Didn't see this until this morning. My wife suffered the same fault and had to drive (siren blaring!) to Hawthorns in Farnham to get it fixed. They disconnected the *siren* - and it did without it until the next service whereupon it was fixed.

I hope you got it to shut up in the end...

Cheers Don. Looks as though the siren battery has died, I have now worked out how to access the car. Handy to know this isn't a unique problem. I shall now attempt to disconnect the siren. Thanks for the info.

My 96 Griff has been doing odd things lately. A couple of eimes I have deactivates the alarm which has set the siren off!! The car is drivable, but its bloody embaressing (I have tried disconnecting the siren but there is a battery backup). The bizarre thing is it doesn't do it all the time, which I guess is going to make it difficult to diagnose

Anyway just thought I'd let you know that I share your pain.

Cheers Dan

My Griff did such a thing in a NCP car park, if found again in a NCP car park and the alarm goes off, its a big,big fine. In the nearside inner wing is a connector for the siren. It was in the bottom of the wing in 2 inches of water! I now have a hole to stop the water rising and lifted the connector, just in case.

It's not good to know that I am not alone with this problem, but comforting to appreciate it is not unique. I have managed (after the siren battery died) to disconnect the siren. I was a little surprised to find that the unit was not secured in any way, just laying there. At least it was easy to remove. I have recently had the radiator replaced and wonder if whilst removing and fitting the new rad, the garage disconnected or moved the siren for whatever reason. Not sure if it's worth contacting them or to just try refitting the unit myself. I feel sure there must be something to anchor the unit to. Scary thing is, if once the battery is recharged, if it goes off again. Perhaps I should carry ear protectors round with me, and be careful which carparks I use!!

Should be mounted on a bracket, but even there they are suseptible to water ingress. Mine packed up a few months ago with similar consequences. Seems to be a "feature" of the design.
