For some reason mine are bright and visble when the side lights are on and go dim when I put the main headlights on. Shouldn't this be the other way around ?

They are user programmable from the on screen menu, you just need to change the settings.

You might find the full bright setting too bright for night driving on unlit roads. That my be why the last owner set them like this.

Sorry I was being lazy. I do usually rtfm. :-). Cheers. I can't actually see any of the dash at night so I'll set it the other way around.
