Offshore and bored, just bought a 7D!

So I have a bit little too much time on my hands out here, working 14 hour days isn't enough to keep me from looking at things online.
I've just agreed to buy a 7D from a nice chap on the TP forums.
I'll need a Compact Flash card for it as my 500D uses SD. Which are the best ones to get? Any idea of the spec it'll need?
I'll have get this sorted out so when I get home I can play with it straight away.
I have a corded remote release for the 500D, I take it that the 7D will use a different connection.
Is it worth spending the extra to get a wireless remote, and are any of the non Canon ones worth getting?
My wife may well kill me when she finds out, so I'll get it delivered to my Dads and sneak it in under the cover of darkness. She dosn't usually take many pictures so I may have some weeks left.

Excellent choice with the 7D, lovely bit of kit 
I use the Hahnel Giga T Pro remote with mine, can't fault it. As for CF cards, better of buying decent ones in my opinion. Go for the SanDisk 8GB Extreme, no issues at all with them (and I do quite a bit of motorsport on full burst).

Well, I got a bit sidetracked while looking at lenses...
The 7D came about because I was idly flicking through the TP for sale section (looking for a 70-300 or 70-200, or potentially a used 60D) and noticed that they could be had for a more reasonable sum than I expected. I hadn't really intended to buy anything, I was mainly seeing how much the lenses go for used.
I think it's going to be a 70-200 f4 L though, this of course may change depending on what's available around next payday. I think I've proven that I can't be trusted with the internet.

)It'll be a longer wait than just getting off the rig on thursday, my bank has a really great system where they text you a password if you do a transfer to someone new.
Mobile phones don't work on rigs, so for half the year I can't do any new transfers.
So I'll transfer the cash on thursday, go to Shetland for the mother in-laws birthday on fri and hopefully pick up the 7D on monday from my dads.
On the plus side I'm off to Majorca on the next friday so I'll have some time in the sun to get burnt and learn to use it.

So I spent most of today (well untill 13:45 anyway) pacing the living room like an expectant father.
It's been a long week but I now have the 7D and I'm a happy camper. It does make the 500D feel a bit toy like and I'll have to get used to being able to change pretty much everything.
Now all I have to do is learn to use it!
