ITV should be showing it but instead they have chosen to show a crappy film.

If you have clicked on here by mistake and don't want to know the qualifying result.....why did you click on it in the first place

Here's the qualifying result....

Looking at where Ferrari are I wonder if there was some truth in their (allegedly) use of tyre softener chemicals?

Spun at the last chicane, complete 360.

Sato was on a really good lap, definately on pole, but somewhere he really got the car a little sideways in a left right series so he lost a couple tenths and needed to make up 2 tenths or so at the hairpin. With just the straight left he didn't have much chance but he totally clipped the curbs in that last chicane and as was mentioned he did a nice 360 that the crowd loved.

Ferrari technical director Ross Brawn has dismissed rumours in the German media that the team may have contravened F1 regulations in a bid to counter the one-lap performance advantage sometimes enjoyed by Michelin-shod rivals. It had been suggested that Ferrari may have been using a tyre-softening compound.

Well they are suddenly a second off the pace and closer to Sauber's time who as another Bridgestone runner is using by all accounts this years Ferrari engine and gearbox.

or maybe just coincidence, like when Schumacher lightning starts for Benetton a few years back stopped when they were accused of operating launch control.

Yup - I reckon we could be in for a blinder of a race - the renaults are the ones to watch off the start line, I reckon they could both take button who will remain behind Ralp, until BMW reliabilty takes control and button passes the renaults in the pits to see his first win, what you reckon ?

The Ferrari car was good but it didn't totally anhilate the competition, Ferrari's strategy beat Williams.

I liked how MS usually had an open track when he did his fast laps before his pitstops but RS and JPM found themselves behind MS just before their third and his second. MS was almost a second slower, JPM had a kind of exagerated fast lap, locking up wheels, but behind MS at his slower race. When both RS and JPM went in, viola, MS suddenly went fast to clock his fast laps.

Does anybody buy this idea? It's not super advantageous to puposely hold your oponents up but it gives them trouble/stress. It seems like, maybe, had MS gone at full speed he would have been helping JPM and RS more by getting them in and out of the pit quicker. Or at least MS preserved his car for the fast laps he needed a few laps later.

Yeah, it was pretty dull but the cars are so quick these days! The pitstops are nuts.

2nd point, notice how different teams get the tires off. Ferrari, Willams, Renault (I think) the wheels just glide of whereas BAR the guys are having to knock the things off. Clearly, they are losing a few tenths there. Do they need to put some grease or something on the contact areas?

I don't think BAR are losing any time because they are always waiting for the refuelling to finish. The only time they have to wait for the tyres is when one of the nuts doesn't go on properly.

They aren't losing pit time, Jenson's pits were some of the quickest in the race. His first being only beaten by Ralf Schumacher who had the quickest pit of the whole race.

Yup, you guys are correct about the pitstops and have the times to prove it. Well, seeing them knock them off where other teams glide them off and back on is a little shocking but could be more to it....

What about my MS strategy idea?

Yikes! That's a scary picture FWD! We were sat in the stands at the previous corner.... must say it felt very safe with the double catch fencing but I guess there's only so much you can do if the wheels are allowed to get that high.

Was an amazing weekend and I'd thoroughly recommend it to any F1 fans out there. Montreal is an amazing city too. And easy to get to, just fly into NY and do the drive up the stunning I-87, five hours at a push...

I reckon they should abolish refuelling. Pitstops become quicker, so less chance for overtaking in the pits, plus it then becomes more of a judgement call as to how long to stay out so more chance of mistakes -- at the moment you HAVE to come in when the fuel's about to run out.

Also the cars would become heavier especially at the start, so braking zones extend, resulting in more potential for on-track overtaking.
