Asian supermarkets
Discussion
Sadly, the little Chinese lady who ran the Asian stall in the indoor market has retired. Her stall was brilliant, it had everything you could possibly want within an area approximately 2 square meters.
This closure does cause me problems though, as I now need to find an alternative supplier of weird oriental delights.
Any recommendation in the east Cheshire/south manchester areas?

If stoke isn't too far then freshways in cobridge is, frankly, incredible. There are quite a few smaller shops on waterloo road that will be up your street.
There's a thai run shop on nantwich road in crewe which is very well stocked, but comparatively expensive.
How does freshways compare with the PAK supermarket in Stoke ?'always have trouble parking there tooThere's a thai run shop on nantwich road in crewe which is very well stocked, but comparatively expensive.

Wing Yip, near Ancoats, Manchester city centre should cover all your needs, in is like downtown Shanghai on a Sunday morning as all the local takeways/restaurants re-stock.
Stop on Thomas street for a beer on the way home and watch Manchester recover from its hangover.
Does depend on how far South of Manchester you are but worth a trip.

wing yip is on oldham road and is massive. shaped like a crash between a pagoda and a warehouse, it's got a [really rather good] restaurant, hair salon, travel agent etc. above it too.
every time i've been there alwasys seems to be some kind of celebration going on at the restaurant and so the car park is stuffed full of high end cars.
disappointingly, the japanese and thai selection is a bit poor for the size of the place. there used to be a great thai supermarket in chinatown but i'm not sure if it still exists.
