Le Mans Latest

Latest news from the 24 hour race

14:45 BST

Only fifteen minutes to go and both TVRs are still running despite concerns over the diffs on the cars. Fingers crossed...

12:20 BST

TVRs still running well in 23rd and 25th. That's 8th and 9th in class ahead of Morgan who are still in it albeit a few dozen laps behind.

Martin Short's race was ended overnight when contact with another car caused damage to the suspension which ultimately led to Martin Short having a serious crash. He survived ok but the car is a mess. There appears to be some controversy over the nature of the contact with  the Pescarolo Judd who claims that Short should have moved out of his way.

09:00 BST

TVRs still running. Only 31 cars are left now and car 89 is in 23rd place whilst car 96 is in 27th place.

21:20 BST

TVRs are running 27th and 37th... looking good currently.

18:50 BST

TVR number 96 is running okay now after the ECU problem was fixed. The team has reported concerns about the temperature of the differential though.

16:30 BST

The Rollcentre Dallara is slowing.

16:16

Car 96 now circulating ok albeit a little sideways in places!

15:55 BST

TVR number 89 reported to be blowing white smoke occasionally but seems to be circulating ok.

15:45 BST

96 is reported to have rejoined but is once again crawling around the circuit. It's a problem with the engine cutting out apparently.

15:10 BST

TVR number 96 with Nigel Greensall at the wheel has just limped around the circuit at slow speed and has made it back to the pits. It has stopped in the entry road to the pits. It's being pushed by the marshalls and will then be pushed by the team mechanics into the garage for repairs.

15:00 BST

They're off!

14:45

Bob Berridge and Nigel Greensall will start the two TVRs.

Car 89 is to be driven by Berridge, Michael Caine and Chris Stockton.

Car 96 will be driven by Greensall, Lawrence Tomlinson and team boss Gareth Evans.

Ted, Are you listening to radio Le Mans? The Rollcentre Dallara is not slowing! It is doing OK. 3 of the lead Audis have crashed out!

Feel gutted for Shorty/Rob/Joao and the whole team. Sounds like Mr. Bourdais was being a little hasty. Good luck to the Synergy/TVR team hoping they reach the 24hr mark!

Watched that on the Eurosprt coverage (8-9am). Looked like a pretty big impact after the suspension collapsed. Shorty said to be quite concussed, but they had pics of him limping with a stick in the pits. Bad luck Shorty.

Bloody Euro 2004 seems to have limited the coverage of Le Mans to the opening hour, the early morning slot, and then the finish. Bugger.
