I am off to Singapore tomorrow and I have just had an e mail from Emirates saying I can upgrate to 1st class for 35000 air miles, I have 120,000.

I am flying business anyway, but do you lot think its worth it?

Why not? What are you planning on using your points for otherwise? Treat yourself smile

ETA I should add I'm a pleb and can only dream of 1st/upper class!

I would if I didn't have firm plans for the points!

Don Perignon in Emirates First last time I did it. Is it 35k both ways or total? Either way - yes, go for it. A380?

That's the problem, thinking of going to Oz next year.

I commute to Singapore, two weeks there, two weeks in the UK

35k miles isn't bad.

That said - maybe it's worth keeping the miles to do a Y -> J bump rather than J->F? Think there'd be more utilisation through doing that.

If you never have then give it a go I reckon but only on the A380. Anything else will be toss in comparison.

I've only made it in to business class once and that was nice enough. I'd definitely go first given the chance.

Am I the only one to sync my travel to ensure I'm on the A380? The other's look like Robin Reliant's compared to the big bird.

I normally travel EK4 (A380) then EK404 (B777) but due to the different, and poor, service on the A380 tonight I am going on a B777 all the way.

Decided not to take their offer, as the seats on the B777 are not suites like on the A380. Also, as its already been pointed out, I am lucky enough to be in Business class anyway, so using the miles for a Eco to Bus class upgrade would be better in the summer.

No, not worth it IMO, 35,000 to go from economy to business is worth it, not from business to first. The 777's do have private cabins in 1st however, not sure if they are the same as the A380 though.

i agree. i noticed this summer that prices shot up as every bugger wants to escape the ME heat. i was offered a economy>business upgrade and turned it down. ended up in the centre of the middle seats for 8 dreadful hours. never again!
