Hi,
Looking to upgrade from a 98 chimaera to a t350 or a Tuscan maybe in the new year, both cars look great. Does anyone have a view on which car would be a better long term buy?

Simple. People with Tuscans will recommend Tuscans and people with T350's will recommend them. Then you'll get the Cerb guys trying to convince you to get a Cerb etc. Sorry, but thats the way these threads always go.

First question - do you want a convertible or coupe?

If you want a convertible then the T350 is ruled out but Tamora ruled in and Tuscan is a bit of both

Next - sit in the different cars and drive them if you can so you can get a feel, Tusc feels different to a T350

Price range is a factor. Older Tuscs and Tamora's appear to be cheaper

Get a car (whichever one you choose) that has been sorted and ideally has a sound engine (look for a rebuild, if possible with a warranty), have it checked by an expert.

I have been lucky to own both and for me it was easy. Tuscan is hard top and soft, looks go to Tuscan (my opinion). The winner is raw power. Tuscan all the way!

Tuscan for me, most practical for my needs, bung the roof on and it is a comfy GT, take the roof off and the window out and it is a great period.

There isn't much in it to be honest, but one will fit better for you so try lots. No two cars are the same, so hunt hard and enjoy.

One thing I would say is be mindful of the speed 6 warm up procedure.

I recently changed from a Chim to a Tuscan and don't get me wrong very happy with the decision, but I have barely the Tuscan in 6 weeks primarily because it's simply not worth getting it out of the garage for anything less than a 10 mile trip. All TVR's need warming up properly, but with a Speed 6 I find myself being overly cautious because of potentially stratospheric repair costs.

Hmmm, maybe a non-rebuilt Tamora for 15K, plus 8K for a 4.3 upgrade. That way you get a convertible that goes like the proverbial, and a warranty for peace of mind.
