I bought an abomination of a 'tinned bacon grill' as a thought for taking part in the recent food comp. There's a pic where you're supposed to fry it. What else are you supposed to do with it? I thought someone had mentioned it in another thread but the search doesn't come up with it.
Am off to Goodwood for the revival weekend and this is the sort of crap they ate then - so need to get into the spirit of things smile

If it's anything like Spam, there are a whole host of recipes here.

Some of these are genius - I particularly like Spam pie:

I used to love the stuff for an early morning fry-up with eggs, beans and fried bread from compo rations in the 70's.

Just the thing to get a cold, wet and freezing squaddie moving in the morning.

Made the mistake of trying some last year - utterly foul greasy stuff that may once have seen a pig walk by :-)

I'll stick to memories in the future biggrin

I might just have to give it a try tomorrow morning.
There's a small group of people I camp with for the revival and I think crap food wouldn't go down that well....even if it was in period biggrin

Slice it and fry it till the outside is a little crispy.

I like it, but I was fed it in the army.

Beware though, you can get good and bad bacon grill.

Grilled to 'crispy' then eaten on well buttered toast. Ooooh baby. Haven't had it for 20 years but the memory remains the same.

Takes me back to my TA days. Bacon grill, a few biscuits fruit (not biscuits brown - horrible things) and a steaming mug of brew, all in the pissing rain at about 5:30 in the morning on a God forsaken exercise ground outside Grantham

Fried part of it chopped up earlier this evening and had it with a cauliflower cheese - it was revolting.
