I may have a contact for stolen cooking apples. I have no idea what to do with these brutes; any good recipe ideas? Currently they are just big bitter things to me, and painful when they fall on your head.

Thanks!

Cook them. HTH.

I'd suggest pie and crumble, if you're craving more of my insight.

Pork chops in cider:
Pork chops.
Sliced cooking apple.
Sliced onion.
Sliced mushrooms.
Cider.
Top with grated cheese & breadcrumbs.
Bake in oven.
Done.

Bind them together using peanut butter as mortar and construct anything from a kennel to an overpass depending on quantity.

I got a big bag of cooking apples from someone at work last week. Made some apple crumble muffins at the weekend, but have loads left.

Given we're in the glorious English apple season, apples might make a good cooking competition theme soon?

p.s. When you say stolen do you mean scrumped? It sounds far better to say I've scrumped some apples : )

Yes, but i'm too young for that smile

Thanks for the suggestions all, I'd forgotten crumbles easy to make and great with custard. How about making apple sauce?

Also I've been told that it's a bumper season this year. Our eater trees have the most apples on them for years.
