Saw them back in 1990 on the Fear Of A Black Planet Tour - they were the nuts. (As was the support - Kid n' Play, Digital Underground, Heavy D and the Boyz, and Chill Rob G). A few bits of political babble from chuck d but an awesome night.

Wow, Kid n' Play, talk about a blast from the past. I remember their House Party movies. They were hilarious. Digital Underground helped launch the career of Tupac Shakur. Nothing quite as funny as the Humpty Dance. I say bring back the 90s and end this horrendous era of rubbish "music" entirely! fullgear1 said:

Damn right - IMO the golden age of hip hop was when it was best i.e. mid/late 80's to early 90's. Can't stand the current stuff. If you've got Spotify I've made a cracking playlist of that era: http://open.spotify.com/user/djones50/playlist/4DZ...
That concert was great, it was in Rochester, New York and was right at the time when Humpty Dance was massive in the US, Kid n Play hadn't long since done House Party, and Public Enemy were at the top of their game and still had Terminator X.....
Something also cool about Public Enemy, is that they were one of the first rap groups who teamed with a metal band (Anthrax) and truly had success. I believe Aerosmith and Run DMC paired earlier, but Public Enemy and Anthrax were a much better mix IMO. Bring The Noise is easily one of the best examples of how rap and metal can coincide very well. Later, Onyx and Biohazzard paired up for the Judgement Day soundtrack and did a decent job aswell. Flav is a really nice down to earth guy. Someone I knew met him at a bar in Long Island, NY and said Flav bought everyone a round! Was also a very friendly bloke and played piano for them aswell. Good to know that there are still down to earth musicians out there.
