Don't suppose anyone knows what torque I should tighten up the crash bungs I have just bought for my K3 GSXR100?

Tells me everything in the instructions apart from how much to tighten up.

Pesty, I had my crash bungs fitted whilst I was having my suspension sorted by a specialist, and he just tightened them as far as they would go, rather than using a torque wrench to a specific setting.

Just fitted R&G bungs to the 954. They recommend using manufacturers torque setting for the mounting bolts which according to Haynes is:

39Nm for the front mounting bolt.

Phil,

If they're the type that replace the engine mounting bolts, just crank the buggers up using a big wrench. I don't think a specific torque setting is needed! Are you going to take the new badger on track?

Just out of interest, were you at the Octavia RS owners club dyno day recently at AMD in Bicester?

Cheers guys.

Yes fergus I will be tracking the new beast But not cadwell just yet
Too tight for my lack of skill and poor throttle control with all the low down power this thing has.

Will do donnington this year. Any other tracks that are nice and wide and that dont have wacking great mountains in the middle that scare the shit outa me ?

If they do replace the engine mounting bolts, then correct torque is essential not to loosen them off with vibration nor crack whatever they are tightening on. Also most bobbins use allen heads which will require tightening probably beyond what can be achieved with an allen key. So if you are using a key socket, you might as well use the correct torque.

Strangest thing happened on the journey back from Le Mans. I now only have one crash bung. I know there were definitely two at the campsite because I remember cleaning the bugs off.

Bloody bolt has cracked leaving about 15-20mm showing. Any ideas on how to remove it?

Same thing happened to me on the 750! Crash bung just snapped off! I thought it was either a fault with the metal bolt or teh guy previous had put it on too tight or too loose.

Its still in there with a half broken easy out stuck out of it Still my mate dosnt seem to mind(he bought bike) Stayed like that for a year.

This is why I wanted to go by the book and use correct setting for bolt. Also as a maintenence Engineer I like to do things properly

ps for the gixxer 1000 K3 Torque setting is 55N/m phoned up local dealer and they were helpful! I nealy fell over
