On an S you'd only get "Copper" as I read it,

40 quid before they'll attend
Local recovery only
No travel/accommodation costs
No European cover

I have full European breakdown/accident recovery included with my insurance from RH Specialist and after a little "to do" in Belgium last week they got me home very efficiently, taxi's hotel and flight all paid for but haven't actually got my car back yet.

I have been with Greenflag for years, main cover is for the family car but my wife and I have the personal cover add on which covers any car we travel in, whether we own it or not. Cost is about £100 but covers roadside assistance plus recovery to anywhere in the UK. Only used it a couple of times (not for the TVR) but the reponse was very quick and efficient.

Just got rid of RAC recovery and joined Auto aid. £38 including recovery to one place of your choice. You have to pay for recovery up front then claim back. Hope to never use them so cannot say how good or bad service is. Worth a look though!

Do check the small print and ensure they cover cars of the age of S's.

Many of the "free" policies that come with credit cards, bank accounts etc do not.

I have used autoaid for a while.
The only time I have ever used them was for the S.
Nice and easy ~ I just rang their number, they sent a guy out who loaded me onto back of truck and brought me home. I paid the recovery firm and I got a refund from autoaid very quickly afterwards.
