He didn't run on the day.. just popped in to say hello first thing in the morning. Having said that, he did join us on the runway for a little jaunt and the car looked awesome.
It was however a bit quiet... Paul.. sort it out!
The Tuscan is mine... now onroute to str8six!
Yep, I did not run. I popped in on the way to a wedding to see some of my mates. Only done Vmax in the Sag in the wet so not a great bench mark touching 190 - I took a couple of mates out for a lap before I left but did not Vmax it, taking it up to about 175 and then back down again to stretch its legs but not trying really.

Exhaust - it is very very loud when you want it to be as you can run it with sleeves but the restrictions put on Craig mean I only put the sleeves part way in.
Good to meet you
I'm only pulling your leg... the car sounded great out on the runway!
I had some new quiet cans from ACT on and really missed the noise. Suprised at some of the machinery there without additional silencing as I would have rather ran with a less retrictive system.
That said.... I managed one run... until a misfire/loss of power/top end rattley noise decided to say hello! Called it a day for the car straight away, but stayed until the end anyway to watch and to have a few passenger laps.
Good to meet you briefly too. Out of interest, having you driven any of the 4.3/4.5 S6 cars since having yours back on the road? If so, how did they compare overall? I understand that the weight isn't much different between the 2, so I guess most of it is down to power delivery. Did you do any additional strengthening to the chassis or has it coped fine?
Cheers
Dave

Will you be coming to meet us at 'Shakey' on 1-10-11? Be nice to see you do a run or two.Exhaust - it is very very loud when you want it to be as you can run it with sleeves but the restrictions put on Craig mean I only put the sleeves part way in.

I have no idea how to multiple reply so I will have a go in one reply.
I have mates with 4.3's and 4.5's as well as Jason conversions and Dom's - I am at Spa with a number of them in October as well as having been to Zolder with them. There is a huge difference between my conversion and theirs but then again there is a pretty big price difference as well. Mine has a more power and more torgue, it is the right conversion for me and one that I would recommend to anyone but Jason, Dom and RG are all doing great conversions so it is down to what you want - I would need to take you out in mine and you will see a clear difference but it is down to what you want from the car. I wanted the ultimate Sag and I think I have it - I will continue to improve it and have some plans for it over the winter. Always happy to give you a go out in it if I see you.
I can not make the strip that weekend which is a shame as Shacky is not far from where I live - it is Britcar weekend and I will be wearing my helmet and getting my kicks there.
190MPH in the wet - yes not a problem in the Sag. I had a Vbox in the car and had to actually lift before going through the beams so I could stop because of the conditions so I went through the beams at 188. I have to strap the bonnet down which is not ideal at that speed, the rear cut down spoiler does help but I think I need to do something with the rear valance. I want to be the first TVR to actually drive there and home on the same tyres, to do this as bigger wheels would give better gearing as Brummie worked out I think we need to change the final ratio on the diff but we will find out.
The car is not exactly quiet but as a guest of craig I can not go with the full fat exhaust system - the advantage I have is it does not restrict the car either way it is run.

Just 265 Tyres was needed, nothing tricky, I just happened to have 255 road Tyres on but they topped out at 199.99mph and they were free! The 265's I had happened to be my track rim £30 specials, I have some freebie 40 profile Tyres, they will take nearer 210mph.
Much easier way to do it but I think a better final drive would be more ideal the car all round but as you know it is expensive to change the diffYou probably have 265 Tyres on anyway, maybe bigger?
I have run either on the road, just depends what I get my hands on, rear Tyres every 2k miles gets expensive, the previous Tyres I ran which were 265 rossos, would have meant I wouldn't have needed to swap. You can't get a bigger diff than 3.08 anyway, you will need a custom gear set cut?

Yep a custom diff or a totally different diff altogether. I would love to put a sequential box in the Sag so this is what is stopping me at the moment. It is a winter project with plenty of time to think it through and plan.I have run either on the road, just depends what I get my hands on, rear Tyres every 2k miles gets expensive, the previous Tyres I ran which were 265 rossos, would have meant I wouldn't have needed to swap. I wouldn't if you want to use it on the road more than the track, they are difficult to use in traffic and are very noisy.I Ran Danny's race Sag in on the road with one and it was horrible to use, they only work well when the engine is up in the revs on the gear changes. Will a viper diff not fit between the chassis, Craig Taylor has fitted one in his twin turbo LS RX7, that would be the way to go for strength.

Craigs diff is a 3.08 also, those viper diffs have massive bat wings sticking out, and the TVR is too snug for one of those i would say. Will a viper diff not fit between the chassis, Craig Taylor has fitted one in his twin turbo LS RX7, that would be the way to go for strength.
Something will fit though, like i say custom Crown wheel and pinion is probably the easiest, and they are pretty tough.
Be a really tall first gear though, unless you revise all the gearbox ratio's too.

http://www.quaife.co.uk/shop/products/qbe69gAvailable with helical gears, but a vMax unfriendly slightly shorter 6th (relative to the TKO600) and an even taller 1st!
But if they could make the 2od ratios (spur) they offer in Helical......

That is the sort of thing I want - will not do everything I need but it would be ace.Available with helical gears, but a vMax unfriendly slightly shorter 6th (relative to the TKO600) and an even taller 1st!

How many big power, big torque race cars use Quaife boxes? Any of the Top Cats ones? And as Craig says, you'd struggle to live with it. Have a look at my in car footage on you tube and just listen to those straight cut gears whine....

Hi Andy, I like the idea of the whine - not sure Quaife is the way to go but I want to do something with itAnd as Craig says, you'd struggle to live with it. Have a look at my in car footage on you tube and just listen to those straight cut gears whine....

Didn't I quote "helical" gears in my earlier post giving the Quaife link !?And as Craig says, you'd struggle to live with it. Have a look at my in car footage on you tube and just listen to those straight cut gears whine....
