Just been to look at a red 1990 mk2 MR2.

It's the 3S-FE engine, coupe (not T-bar) with a sunroof. Everything seems mechanically sound with it, only problems I saw were a dent in the OSF wing (requires replacement), faded paint in a few places and central locking no worky.

145K on the clock, cambelt changed 20K ago, full major service 50 miles ago. MOT until January, no tax - SORNd because the owner has another MR2 (tubby) that he's insuring and the continuous insurance thing means he can't tax it and then leave it uninsured.

Asking price is £800. Seems a little high for the mileage?

Its worth whatever someone will pay for it.
Just make a low offer of say £500, and walk if its no good. theres plenty of decent ones around a grand.

I wouldn't pay £800 for that. You can get a 3S-GE engined car, with lower miles for around that.

I'd entertain paying £200 > £300 for that but as others have said you could probably get a GE engined example for that sort of money and quite possibly a later revision 2 car with similar mileage.

Shop around. Buy the best you can afford.

Please, for the love of all things with cheese in it, don't get the 3S-FE. It's underpowered. Go for the 3S-GE.

This man talks sense. Drove both and could not believe they put that engine in a car like this. A very good 3SGE engined car could be had for the same amount.
