Recommend an electric piano

Been looking at new and used Clavinova / YDP etc but there's quite a few and I don't know whether I should get a newer version with modern electronics or an older one with better spec

Looking to spend £5-600, preferably a bit less !

any tips on what to look at for that price ? Not fussed about MIDI etc

You mean "digital", right?

There was a thread on here a couple of years ago (so obviously I don't expect you to remember it or find it)... I think the Clavinova was highly rated. However, as an amateur, I have no problems with my second-hand Korg SP-300.

Roland or Korg are well respected makes.

Years ago the Bands I played in ALL used Roland or Korg they are just so well made. Robust reliable superb.

Some of the Far East makes are rather fragile. Excellent machines but not so robust.

Roland or Korg: you will not regret the purchase. Ever.

Heh, digital or electric, all the same to me!

I got up to grade 4/5 a long time ago; I'd like to pick that up again. So, predominantly classical stuff, and all from home.

Ah, the reason I asked is that I used to play a Wurlitzer EP200 in my band, lovely instrument but not for classical music. 3,000 moving parts apparently, has hammers and dampers and everything except metal reeds to make the sound instead of strings. The advantage being it was sensitive to touch which at the time electric pianos weren't - still got it. I expect modern digital pianos do everything though.

Wow. Yes, digital pianos, even the cheap keyboards, have been touch sensitive for years.

Yes, it was a case of a Rhodes or the Wurli' and I felt the Rhodes had a West Coast American sound whereas the Wurli' had a sharper sound more suited to British rock. Both nice instruments but very different.
