What's the best and cheapest way to drive there?

Is it cheaper to just turn up at the ferry port and see if they have a place? I'm thinking Harwich to Hook , done this once before years ago but booked well in advance, How easy would I find a hotel once in Copen?

Any ideas/experiences would a appreciated thumbup

You won't have a problem finding a hotel in Copenhagen. I like the Copenhagen Admiral, or a junior suite in the SAS Royal because it overlooks Tivoli.

How about the ferry to Esbjerg, drive across Jutland to Aarhus, then the ferry to Zealand?

Can recommend the Nyhavn 71

http://www.booking.com/hotel/dk/nyhavn.html?aid=31...

didn't eat there as it is next to a shedload of eateries, canal boat trips etc but it is very comfortable and the pier next to it has an event on every evening from salsa to opera...all free

Cheers for that, is that the sleep over 8hr ferry?
I'm thinking I could just turning up to the ferry port without a booking, is that possible or cheaper?

Cheers, what's the parking like there, going in the Elise, under ground would be good, stayed at the Radisson last time and that had under ground parking but was mega bucks to stay.

Yeah it's the overnighter. I have no idea if you can just turn up to that but since there aren't that many departures a week it might be an idea to book.

498 quid return, bloody hell smile

The Esbjerg ferry is 12 hours and as the Scandinavian holiday season is more or less over prices will be dropping. It doesn't go every day though.

There are spaces on tomorrows ferry, £400 for two people in cheapest cabin and normal car. You really do NOT want to consider no cabin. That's £400 one way by the way. No meals included. It can be rough in autumn.

I have no experience of pricing if you just pitch up and pay but have seen people do it.

There is space on tonight's Stena Harwich-Hook, same basis two, cinside cabin, car £232, one way. It's ~ £20 cheaper for Friday's boat.

Hotel space in Copenhagen never any problems ime.

Don't know how he gets it for £498 return.

I've just done search cheapest cabins each way Fri 2 Sep sailing out, back on Sat 17th, just as a guess, £772.

I am assuming that OP doesn't want a bunk in a shared cabin, though I thought they'd stopped those so maybe it's a website glitch.

The reason they charge so much is because they can. In the summer it's a grand and more. frown

I stopped using them because they just took the piss after alternative routes stopped running.

The Harwich-Hook route and drive up through Germany etc is my favourite way, then across the bridges into Sweden.

No probs.

Harwiwch Esbjerg Online booking is easy.

Harwich - Hook Again just do an online booking, if the ferry is full the website will say so when you try to book.

The week beginning October 17th is VMworld in Copenhagen - hotels will be hard to come by, especially in the southern half!

Fair enough, btw, when driving across Denmark keep some money or a card handy when you get to the Storebælt bridge. http://www.storebaelt.dk/english/toll-charges

I don't think VMworld is going to sell out all of Copenhagen's hotels at all smile

Shouldn't they be replicating that? Why do they need to be on location smile
