We are visiting friends in Boston in October and have 2 or 3 days to spend outside Boston itself.

We are thinking of the Mountains (North Conway) or Cape Cod. Does any one have any suggestions of decent place or areas to stay?

Stay in Provincetown if you like seeing men in hotpants being led around on dog leads by other men!!!!

The islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket are a short ferry hop off the Cape and are very picturesque...but accommodation is pricey.

Hyannis is one of the larger towns on the Cape and is pretty nice.

Provincetown is nice too but as above is not for conservatives smile There's also a 90-minute passenger ferry straight out of Boston harbour if you don't fancy hiring a car.

We have stayed at the Hawthorne in Chatham - would definitely stay there again. Usually use Tripadvisor to get an idea of places to stay - as above I'd probably avoid staying in Provincetown although we did head there to get on a whale watching boat!

Yea, been there on business for a week and stayed in the mansion house. Was really nice, nice relaxed atmosphere and close enough to Hyannis if you want to go across to Nantucket etc.
