Afternoon all,

Travelling from Glasgow to Manchester next on Sunday for an interview on Monday morning. Decided I would stay for the remainder of Monday and come back home on Tuesday as it's a city I've never spent any time in.
Any good museums in the city or other interesting things to do?? I've heard there is also a microbrewery somewhere in the city centre (marble brewery I think), do they do tours/tastings?
Interview is on King Street and my hotel is a half mile from there, so any transport guidance for getting to your suggestions from around there would be appreciated too.

^^^ this!
I'm in the city working. It's pissing down, cold, and full of funny-speaking people.

Run for the south instead. It's sooooo much nicer

Should add. The interview is not actually for a job in Manchester. It's with a recruitment firm for a job in Australia. The Edinburgh interviews were full unfortunately.
So is there anything worth seeing/doing for a day and a half or will should I just get mangled in my hotel?

Marble Brewery is in Chorlton. Best to get a cab to there, which will be about £7. No idea whether they do tours or not. If you like a place with a large choice of beer then I suggest the Port Street Beer House which is in the Northern Quarter. You can get a tour of the Hydes Brewery but the minimum part is 12.
In terms of Museums, there is the Science and Industry museum, Manchester museum, Lowry museum and Imperial War museum. These are accessible on the city centre tram routes or by walking.

You could also get a tour of OT football stadium if so inclined, which is a short walk from the War museum.

Thanks, interested in checking out the MOSI. Pretty close to the interview location and hotel.
Unfortunately the Port street beer house is closed on a Monday and I won't make it on Tuesday before my bus leaves. Obviously I could make it on the Sunday night but that would be a terrible idea...

The Britons Protection on Gt Bridgewater St is a fantastic untouched ancient pub - ie its still got three or fours rooms and is cosy and welcoming. I always try a fit a visit in when up in Manc, and the homemade pies they serve at lunchtime are excellent.

The Britons Protection pub is fantastic, has about 200 whiskeys available too!

Also, head to The Marble Arch Inn on Rochdale Road (10 mins walk from city centre) Really beautiful pub
It's the same people as recommended above but is their main pub where they brew the ale. Cracking food too.
You might just be able to have a chat with one of the guys working in the brewery, they're sometimes stood at the bar

Their bar in Chorlton, The Marble Beer House is good, but much smaller, out of town and not where they brew their ale.

MOSI is really good. They've got the 'English Electric Lightning P1A' plane there. It's free too.
Think they've got a Harley Davidson exhibition on at the moment too, there's an entrance fee though.

John Rylands Library has just been renovated and is very impressive.
It's one of the reasons Manchester exists as such an important city today.

There are free Metroshuttle busses that go round all the main railway stations/ attractions in the city centre.
You can get the tram out to the Imperial War Museum

Get the 14.23 train to anywhere else, preferably somewhere all the locals don't think wearing a nylon football shirt is smart casual

Looks like I'm not alone in my opinions, Essex is where I live not where I would prefer to live, there is a huge difference
