So I decided to buy a la pierre technic 500, as my first new bike in over 14 years and the bike to get me back on the hills. I rode it a few weeks ago and liked it, went to buy it this weekend and the booger had sold it and the other 4 from his shop and now has to order another in... In the mean time I also rode a kona kula that is priced a bit higher, but on sale to the same price.

I had a good ride and a bad ride on both back to back.

Is there much in it? Some of the specs of the kona were a bit higher (e.g deore xt deraileurs) but i didn't recognise the crank manufacturer at all and the brakes were elixir. The la pierre is pretty much deore all the way through.

i've been doing some more keyboard walking. I like that the kona has better shocks, but I am still uneasy about the sheer mix of components.

Let me put your mind it ease -

It's fine.

Well, I went with my first choice LPt500 and ordered it - arrived at the shop this week, only to find the rear wheel and derailleur crushed by the courier. So, I came home with the Kona Kula instead after getting a whopping $400 off it (making it $200 cheaper than the LP)! smile

Nice bike, best stop looking at it and get on it I suppose..!
