Arranged and had a demo drive in a new nissan GTR today and to be honest was blown away with the launch control, the acceleration was very addictive....
Didnt really get a chance to check the handling out as the roads were very busy but initial feelings were impressive.
Any longer term views from anyone that owns the new model as I am seriously considering one !
Tony.

Ive had one since april 09- so its the older model. and I paid a lot less (about £53 k at the time)
Id say go for it- from a handling POV- its incredible- and arguably even more so than its straight line-
Ive had plenty of porsches in the past- and despite what porsche fans would love you to think- the GTR is just utterly awesome.
And overall its better than any porsche I've owned- even my GT3 (way better than the turbo IMO- which is just dull in comparison)
irritations- 6 monthly service- which you wont have- and post track day inspection - though I've left that for a month or two and my dealer is totally cool with it.
But from an ownership pov, its been a far nicer experience than I thought it would be- plus everyone lets you out at junctions and nearly 3 years on gets and infinitely more positive reaction from other road users- than pretty much any car Ive owned.
Ill definitely get a 2012- version-

Peter, thanks for your views, I have decided to leave it for now as rightly or wrongly I have read / heard a few negatives about the gtr so I will wait a while for now.
I currently have a lamborghini spyder which I have owned for 2.5 years and am completly happy with it, the gtr was going to be another weekend toy.

My boss has brought a 2010 model and it's fantastic car and the inside I thought was nice but to be honest most jap cars are a bit plastic but they do make good cars all round and performance and handling they are out of this world as they are a big car but the way they drive will blow your mind !!! I think you will not be disappointed !!! Buy buy buy lol
I've had mine for over 2 years now, so got it for the pre-order price which is the best part of 20k cheaper than what they retail at now. It is by a country mile the best car i have owned, so responsive to light mods that improve the power band and driveability to a level i never thought existed.
There are bad points to ownership, they aren't the most economical or cheap cars to run, but you pay to play in this game, there are also little nuances that annoy me such as you say the plastic slab centre console isn't a thing of beauty, but then the MFD makes up for it.....
Pound for pound nothing comes close to it, i've ran against modded 911 turbos, Ferrari Scud, Supra with over 660bhp and they have all seen my taillights. Handling wise it's solid, VDC in R mode is pretty much invincible, VDC Off is where i drive my car in the dry a lot more fun. In the wet though they aren't amazing, combination of weight and wide summer tyres that dont displace water means it is prone to having an aqua plane.
