Whats in your food folder?

So on my desktop I have a folder, that folders name is "Food", within that food folder are recipes, recipes I'd like to try.

Now these maybe recipes ive seen on here, foodgawker, google searches or ideas that might work together.

I thought to myself, is it just me that has a food folder on there computer?

Why dont we start a thread of recipes that could become a cookbook of sorts. Somewhere you can share links to recipes that you've found and make it like one giant recipe folder.

Or is it just a Friday afternoon, I've drank to much coffee, the thought of 3 days off! to tinker on the car! and its actually just a crap idea.

So to get the ball rolling heres a few off my work pc food folder. (home PC much larger of course)

Please add a description and link.

Deconstructed cottage pie

And if it takes off and goes crazy, we could index them into different categories within a wiki.

Not just you. smile

I've often thought that the culinary expertise of the PH collective would make a great cookbook.

However, I'm involved in a 'real world' community cookbook project, and from this I know that a number of things must be considered:

1. Copyright. All contributions must be the author's own invention (or at least not directly attributable to any other published writer)
2. Photography. Must be high quality and with a consistent look and feel
3. Editing. Required for consistency and brevity
4. Recipe testing. I'm amazed how many 'celeb' chef cookbook offerings neglect to do this.

2. and 3. are skilled jobs, for which people will want payment. 4. will require at least reimbursement for ingredients and gas/electricity.

I'd offer my time for free for 3. provided all profits from book sales were donated to charity.

Actually, the more I think about this idea, the more mileage I think it has.

Just imagine, a central PH-centred repository of information to answer those questions which keep experienced chefs and/or budding cooks awake at night. From recent postings in F,D & R, I'd imagine some good topics to be:

Which knives
Which pots/pans
Coffee machines
BBQing
Tasty cheap meals
Sandwich ideas
Making bread
How to cook steak/fish
Slow-cooker recipes

...to name but a few.

I'm envisaging write-ups of various types of products (rather than brand names), focusing on how features benefit the end user.

This is an excellent idea.

I usually bookmark interesting recipes I find on the web using Firefox, but this is not ideal, as sometimes the bookmarked web page is no longer there.

I made some kulfi the other day and it worked out well. A little bit too sweet for me but nice all the same.
Found the recipe after a quick google. It was a question of reading about a dozen of them and choosing one.
Kulfi recipe by ainsley harriot ? No thanks smile

Yeh was thinking more a place just to bump interesting recipes...

For instance I often look for recipes while on lunch, bookmarking the page then having to email it to myself so I can read it at home...

This way no need and its there for other to see.
