Idle problem with Mitsubishi Charisma 1.6, HELP!

So not the most PH of cars but it's what my dad drives and needs help with.

So on to the problem, When the car is moving i.e. rolling towards a junction the RPM surges and when the car is it a standsill at the junction the idle will rise to around 2000RPM.

Although this problem only arises once the car has warmed up, when it is cold it still functions normally.


Anybody else come across a problem similar to this or know what it may be caused by?

Thanks for the reply, we had the idle control valve out and we had a little play around with the stepper motor adjusting what we could but it has made a marginal difference of around 200RPM lower at idle speed but not completely fixed it.

Would it be a case of try a new one?
