By myself...

Am I mad?

Is it a decent alarm?

The car in question is a 1995 rev3 MR2 Turbo.

Any thoughts or suggestions welcome!

It's not hard, if you are competent at wiring and have the installmanual and cars wiring diagram.

But, your insurance won't recognise it, unless you have an approved installers certificate.

That's what you pay for.

Thanks for that. I'm more worried about the fact that it could easily be stolen by a three year old with two matchsticks rather than the insurance implications.

I had one fitted to my 94 impreza 7 years ago and never had an issue with it at all.

As it's an import requiring a Thatcham Category 1 alarm to be fitted, some insurers will require the details from, or a copy of, the installer's certificate.

Nothing to stop you fitting it yourself if you have a mate who is an authorised installer and prepared to certify it has been done correctly.
