Anyone seen those new proposals for F1 recently? Includes a shocking one about reducing engine capacity from 3.0 litre V10s to 2.4 V8s. Bit odd with the apparently random selection of 2.4 litres as well. Thought it might be the optimum capacity for a V8 but McLaren were running 3.5 litre V8s in the early nineties. Might actually be going in the right direction I reckon. Now if they just go down to 1.5 litre V6s and then add one or two turbos and five bar boost...

Not that odd - simply lopp two cylinders off the end of your 3.0 litre V10 and you'll end up with a 2.4 litre V8.

I reckon I can offer an engine conversion service for all the teams: about two hours a time with my junior hacksaw.
